Explore Your Community and Your World with Geotechnologies
Limited Capacity seats available

SPOTLIGHT-1st Session-Explore your community, your state, and your world with geotechnologies. Geotechnologies, which include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), GPS, and Remote Sensing, are windows to the world via inquiry-based, critical thinking, problem-solving tools that provide excellent pathways to outdoor education, rich technology experiences, and critically demanded job skills in a variety of fields.

We will explore why and how to use geotechnologies in educational instruction and administration.

Students will gain a better understanding of the regions they are studying in Social Studies, Geography, Science, Health, Math, and yes, even in Literature!

Geotechnologies are for everybody!

Map and Analyze Field Data with GIS
Limited Capacity seats available

Join Joseph Kerski from ESRI as we map field data collected with phones or GPS receivers that have a latitude-longitude coordinate location. We will use Web GIS resources and desktop GIS tools to uncover patterns found in pH of water, tree height and species, historical buildings, and other phenomena in the natural and social sciences.

Analyze Your Community and World with Geographic Information Systems
Limited Capacity seats available

3-Hr Workshop-PC Lab-You say you've heard about Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or maybe thought it was too difficult or time consuming to use in the classroom? Well, it's not!

Join Joseph Kerski from ESRI as we analyze local, Utah, national, and global phenomena ranging from natural hazards to population to climate, using Web Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and desktop GIS tools.

You will be amazed at how easy it is to incorporate inquiry into your teaching and also provide excellent 21st Century critical thinking and career skills for your students.

Can elementary students do GIS?  Abolsutely.  Come and see how to use GIS in math, science, social studies, health, earth sciences, literature and more.

5th grade students gain a better understanding of the United States, regions, mountains, weather.  4th graders can see the trek of early Utah pioneers over the prairies.  Middle school students can analyze various aspect of earth science, world geography, and geology using online mapiing (GIS) tools and data.

There is definitely somebody for everybody in GIS!
