This workshop will train participants to use the award winning NASA "Smart Skies” program with their students. Using computer based resources this on line program enables mathematics students to explore and apply decision-making and proportional reasoning skills to resolve distance-rate-time problems in realistic air traffic control situations. To solve the problems, students use a web-based interactive Air Traffic Control (ATC) Simulator that represents an air traffic controller's screen. Accompanying teacher and student materials and workbooks provide the underlying mathematics and strategies to enable students to optimize their solutions.
